  “Enhanced care for residents with dementia” is how the memory care at Willowbend is described on their website. The reality is that the residents receive very basic care. There are a few exceptional PSWs but for the most part the PSWs do not treat the residents with any patience, compassion or dignity. The General Manager (GM) and the Director of Care (DOC) should not under any circumstances be responsible for the care and well being of such vulnerable residents. They have systematically failed to provide the memory care residents with a safe, respectful environment. If you are considering Willowbend, I would strongly recommend installing cameras in your family member’s room. My mother was in memory care at Willowbend and in my experience the GM and DOC only added to the stress of caring for a parent living with dementia. *Willowbend’s response below to my original review implies that it was based on an isolated incident. It was in fact based on several incidents that occurred over the period of a year and a half and began shortly after my mother became nonverbal. **Despite Willowbend’s attempts to discredit reviews posted by Jeremy, Andrew Daigneault and Tracey Quiring Peters, I can confirm that they are family members who visited regularly and that their reviews are based on their first-hand observations. The fact that we all felt the need to post reviews speaks to the level of concern with the memory care at Willowbend.

  My grandmother was in memory care at Willowbend and management consistently failed to ensure she was provided with adequate care and a safe environment. The GM and DOC failed to address serious issues raised by the family on several occasions.

  My mother’s needs and safety were not adequately met during her 3 years at this facility. There were several concerning incidents that, even after being reviewed, left our family with more questions . The residents on the memory care floor have very high needs, yet there were consistently not enough staff available to provide the level of care and attention they deserved. Some days it was complete chaos due to the lack of staff . For a private facility we expected much better. I hope management takes an honest look at the gaps in care to ensure residents receive the safe, compassionate care they promise.
