The building is nice looking from the outside , rooms are okay. But the staff are fake , they pretend to care in front of family but do very little to aid the residence. They make them soil there diapers , instead of assisting them to the toilet when asked. How degrading is that to the resident. One nurse puts off giving meds for over 1 hr. The staff does not like family visiting because they don’t want them to see there poor practices. Never bring your loved ones to this home ,or move there yourself. You will be let down and disgusted on how they operate. Its just a business thats out to rob you of your money. I would have chosen no stares but thats not a option.

I stayed at the Red Oak in Kanata for 4 weeks of respite care after knee replacement surgery. I experienced a number of complications in the first 2 weeks post surgery, including a bad reaction to a medication that made me very sick for 5 days. I can’t thank the PSWs and nursing staff for their diligent care, support and encouragement. They checked on me regularly to ensure that I was OK and made sure that I was safe and comfortable. The staff were not only consummate professionals, they were also friendly, positive and very helpful. They worked with me providing the support that I needed while also enabling me to do more on my own as I progressed. My recovery was rapid, in large part due to their friendly encouragement and aid. They were absolutely outstanding. The support staff and management also went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and I received the support I required. One example of this was when they went out of their way to find a lazy boy chair for me when they realized that the couch was too low for me to use. I thank all of them for their care and friendly support. In my final 2 weeks at the Red Oak, I had the opportunity to meet with residents over meals and to enjoy some of the organized entertainment. I met some amazing and talented people. I enjoyed hearing their stories and sharing in friendly conversations. The musical entertainment was outstanding with both outside entertainers and residents sharing their musical talents. For the first two weeks of my stay, I was unable to go to the dining room, so my meals were delivered to my room. The PSWs offered to take me down to the dining room for meals via wheel chair so that I could enjoy the company of others. I profited from this offer for a few days before I was able to walk down myself. They cared that I was not lonely and had the social interaction that was necessary for my recovery. The food was very good, with 2 options for each meal. We also had the option of ordering from the a la carte menu of the selections were not to our liking. I enjoyed my time in the dining room and the variety of food available. I am so pleased to have selected the Red Oak for my respite care. They treated me like family and were a large part of my successful recovery. I want to thank all of the staff for their support, especially the amazing PSWs. They made an amazing difference. All the best and I will see you again when I have my second knee replaced in the near future.

Really great caring staff, beautiful building. Food is fantastic. Lots of activities and services to keep everyone engaged. Worth it if you can get in. The Head of Wellness Melanie is a lovely compassionate person. Nursing staff are pleasant and beyond reproach in their care. They got us through COVID with strict protocols, 4 x vaxed promptly and with very few cases in 2.5 years. Literally a life saver.
