  My mother was a resident of Hazelton for over a decade. While the staff were overall kind and caring, we had an unpleasant experience when it was time for her to move to long-term care. The organization continued to charge her for several weeks after she had moved out of her suite, and it took literally months to recover the overpayment. This was money she needed to pay for her moving expenses and fees for the nursing home. I was very unhappy with the response I got from management, which made an already stressful time of transitioning to long-term care even more challenging. In addition, the organization started demolition on her former unit before we had completed moving her belongings and while we officially still had possession of her suite. Overall, this experience at the end of her stay at Hazelton was very negative, and I did not feel at all supported by management.

  We recently moved a family member into Hazelton Place. Jesicca who guided us through the intake and move was extremely helpful and always available to answer our questions and concerns. Throughout the move, staff was welcoming and attentive, not only to our father, but to the entire family. With all the attention, the community feeling, the beautiful surroundings and the delicious food available, he has settled quickly and comfortably into this new phase of life. It is a comfort to know that as his needs become greater, Hazelton can continue to offer the health and support services he will need.

  My mother was always very independent and reluctant to move to Hazelton Place because she "didn't need help". However, after visiting the Residence, she agreed to move into a lovely 1 bedroom apartment in 2021. She quickly made friends and started to enjoy participating in many of the activities including current events' discussions, concerts and exercise classes. Overall, my mother and I were very happy with our decision to move to Hazelton and very grateful to the Hazelton team for their devoted and dedicated support and assistance as my mother's needs increased over the last few years.
