We decided to move my mom into a home a year and a half ago. The main criteria was that it needed to be something within the Oakville boundaries and a home that had a complete continuum of care, all the way through hospice. This was basically the only choice and what a clear beautiful choice it was. There was a little bit of adjustment, of course, but now Mom is living her best life! The care on every level is definitely there and abundant and it’s the type of place that I hope is the same when I am in need!

My Grandfather lived at Amica for over two years. Being a Nurse, I was initially very nervous about his move into a facility (he was in independent living followed by assisted, and then enhanced assisted). When I visited the facility during the Pandemic and saw how much the staff went above and beyond to ensure I could visit and to surprise my Grandfather with my visit - I knew they cared for him as a human being, knew him, and respected him. The rooms and facility are beautiful, clean, spacious, and positive. When he needed a higher level of care, this was provided on the second floor and the Nursing Staff, Healthcare Aide Staff, Lift Staff, Management - EVERYONE - was wonderful! The staff TRULY CARED about my Grandfather and our whole family. This is something you don't see often with facilities, based on my experience as an RN. The staff have crisp, clean, matching uniforms and look so professional. The care is individualized and appropriate to the goals of the individual and family. When my Grandfather passed peacefully at their facility, we worked alongside the facility to have his funeral reception and dinner on site - and they accommodated! Not just accommodated - they blew it out of the water! It was a high quality, extremely well done event. It was a privilege to go the Second Floor and various other staff areas to personally shake the hands of the staff who provided him such wonderful care, and to gift flowers. I can tell as a Nurse (whose worked in several Nursing Management jobs, and in RN/ LPN/ Healthcare Aide education - That this is a great facility with amazing staff, and well trained staff). To all the Staff who work there THANK YOU. Your hard work was noticed by all, including my Grandfather, and we will never forget what you did for him and our Family. Thank you for your commitment to providing quality care to Older Adults with dignity, respect, and compassion. As a Nurse, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator, Family Member - keep doing what you do!
