April, 2026 It has been a year since Dad passed and two months after he did, Mum suffered a heart attack! Once again we reached out to the Manor for respite care, which evolved into over-the-winter care and now this is Mum's permanent home, by her choice. Ftom the start, It was homecoming for her...the staff were so anxious to give Mum support and comfort as she transitioned to her new lifestyle. The outings, the entertainment, the bingos and word games have brought so much enjoyment to Mum. We have now experienced the Manor's care from all aspects...Dad needing so much assistance as he declined, to Mum being active and wanting stimulating experiences. Thank you Barrhaven Manor staff for interacting with each of your residents so well, to meet their individual needs and challenges. Laura Barrhaven Manor was home for Dad for his final 7 months. He transitioned seamlessly from assisted respite care, to palliative care, to end-of-life care. The entire staff treated Dad, Mum and I with the utmost respect and care. The Manor PSW's and Carefor PSW's showed Dad such love and dignity and they are all so much appreciated for their hard work and dedication as Dad declined. We couldn't have done this without all of you. Everyone made sure Dad knew this was HIS home away from home and made his stay memorable, enjoyable and comfortable for all of us. We can't thank the Manor enough!

We spent over two months touring retirement homes until we finally found this gem of a residence. The staff are longterm and devoted, management is professional and invested, everyone absolutely goes above and beyond. The key to finding a good home is if you walk into the lobby and it's crowded with residents, avoid the ones that look like a ghost town. There was never a day of the week when I'd visit when it wasn't bustling with activity. The manor runs like a well oiled machine, proficient in working with external agencies (like Health at Home), social workers, volunteers and rehabilitative professionals. Best of all it functions as both an independent living and assisted living home, making any transitions much easier on your loved one, and monthly rent covers tv/cable/internet, food, phone, room, laundry and activities. It really is an amazing home; because it's smaller they get to know not only your loved one, but you as well. They made me feel secure that dad was safe, and honestly grew to feel like family.

The entire staff at the Barrhaven Manor treated my Mom with the utmost respect and professional care. I have nothing but positive things to say about this residence. I would highly recommend the Barrhaven Manor to anyone looking for a safe, caring and well run residence for your parent or loved one. It will be a wonderful place for your loved one to call home!
